An Airpork guide's blues.

Boo! Don’t understand what ah chen is talking about(previous post about the predator and prey thing). But im home this afternoon and guess why???

Im sick. Yeah, you heard me right. Sick after JUST 2 days of work 0_0 FAINT.

So yeah whatever, i am finally free to do a report on our job.

So first of all, an intro to the airport guide’s blues:

·

  • Our role is to provide customer/passenger service and interact with the passengers directly
  • Which also means looking like bloody fools when the passenger starts speaking Korean/French to you
  • We are supposed to guide passengers to the right terminal as T3 offically opened on jan 9
  • Help read boarding passes and the flight tv
  • Give directions
  • Welcome people to Singapore with a smile and say ‘ good evening sir/madam! How may i help you?’
  • Gossip to partners about youth/senior ambassadors who steals our business
  • Make friends with the women at the information counters/trolley uncles/patrolling police
  • Other times you stand straight for 6 hours without a break, do nothing (like ah chen said) , smile, tolerate the backache and toe cramps and watch time CRAWL BY. Wee~

I’ve been lucky as so far i have been deployed to all the transit areas of the 3 terminals and thankfully not outside some ulu carpark where you rot away yourself literally.

Well on my first day, i was deployed to transit area in terminal 2. When there was little traffic, me and my partner went on slack patrol into the area where the gate hold rooms are and went to visit the 7-11 store on third level to get some chocolate bars lol.

Yesterday i was deployed at the transit area in T3 and it was a busy busy night over there. Though i still managed to squeeze in some time for slack petrol and look at people shopping inside the transit malls. Busy really did set in after some CAAS people transferred me from my station to guard the gatehold rooms. Apparently the amazing airbus 380 or isit 360, was not fit enough to fly and passengers had to fly to Sydney using another plane. Thats pretty sad isn’t it, people came to experience the airbus thing and it got cancelled. Tsk tsk. Sad. Anyways i was standing guard and shooing people who want to enter away to the right gate which is like at the other end of the big hall.. Naturally some were upset. Luckily i didn’t handle any of the upset people, most passengers were cool =D. So yesterday was quite fun~ hehehe except i was already down with a cold..

Which got worst today so i am here. 0_0 god damns the doctor who charged me 26 dollars for my mc and some antibiotics. RAH. My hard earned money flushed down the toilet rah!! That is like more than 4 hours of standing and pain ok...my god.. my heart aches..

Is this an experience to learn from the working world as well? That money is not easy to earn?!! This is seriously a back breaking job.

Boohoo! Signing out!
